Dr. Mike Ross

Mike was raised on a farm/ ranch/feedlot close to Estevan, Saskatchewan where he was involved with livestock from an early age. He was an active beef 4-H member, enjoyed cowboy activities on the ranch and participated in a few high school rodeos. He spent 2 years in Casper, Wyoming and a year at Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas completing his pre-veterinary university requirements. Here he had the wonderful opportunity to travel throughout the USA and compete in livestock judging competitions. He then attended the Western Veterinary College in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan for 4 years, where he met his lovely wife, Zoe. In the spring of 2000 Mike graduated with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and joined his uncle and mentor, Dr. Barry Ross at the Dawson Creek Veterinary Clinic. Mike and Zoe became owners of the DCVC in 2004 and have enjoyed coaching the wonderful team here at the clinic. Mike loves all animals but is particularly interested in equine and bovine. Mike has taken advanced training courses in equine dentistry and also has a special interest in beef herd health. Mike has enjoyed working with all the wonderful clients and friends in the B.C and Alberta Peace. In his spare time Mike enjoys family activities, camping, fishing, team roping, sports, and farming.

Dr. Zoe Ross

Dr. Zoë Ross (formerly Clark) grew up west of Bentley, Alberta on the family sheep and horse farm with her younger sister Janna. From a very young age, she was sure she wanted to become a veterinarian, specializing in large animals. She graduated from Bentley high school in 1993 and commenced her pre-veterinarian education at Augustana in Camrose the following year. She continued at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, graduating with a degree in agriculture. Zoe worked at the university of Alberta dairy unit for 2 years as a research coordinator before heading the western college of veterinary medicine in Saskatoon. She graduated from vet school in 2003. Zoë received the Large Animal Student Surgery Award, the Wyeth General Proficiency Award and the Janssen Animal Health Award. |
After graduation she became an associate veterinarian at the Dawson Creek veterinary clinic. Zoë married Dr. Mike Ross after graduation and the following year, they purchased the clinic. She and Mike have expanded and developed both the large and small animal practices in Dawson Creek. As a veterinarian Zoë has a special interest and has taken courses in orthopedic surgery and really enjoys surgery, particularly orthopedics. She also spends time mentoring other veterinarians in the practice and focusing on client education.
Zoë enjoys spending time with her two sons Declan and Dain and taking them to all their extracurricular activities. She also enjoys hiking, running and riding her horses. She grew up Three Day Eventing but after coming to the Peace, she learned to team rope and, when time permits, she enjoys competing in local jackpots. Dr. Christa Harder

Dr. Christa grew up on a mixed animal farm near Clavet, Saskatchewan where she was actively involved with the local light horse 4-H club and livestock judging. Christa was working on an Animal Science degree through the College of Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan before being accepted into veterinary college at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. During university, Christa’s passion for the outdoors led to her Alberta working as an outdoor guide leading adults and children on trips through the mountains backpacking, mountain biking and river paddling during the summers. The draw of the mountains led Christa back west following graduation from WCVM in 2009 and this time landed her in Dawson Creek. Christa began her career working on all species but her passion for working with large animals led her to eventually work on primarily horses and cattle. Christa is passionate about veterinary medicine and providing high quality care to her equine and bovine patients as well working in partnership with their owners. Christa has taken further training in equine dentistry, podiatry (feet), lameness and most recently veterinary spinal manipulative therapy. Christa is member of the College of Animal Chiropractors and very excited to offer this option to our equine and canine patients. Christa has also recently become a partner in the Dawson Creek Veterinary Clinic and is excited to part of the leadership of this amazing practice! |
Christa enjoys living in a rural community and loves working for all the wonderful clients who have quickly become friends. Christa, her partner, Chance and their son Zeke have a cow calf and backgrounding operation on their ranch west of Dawson Creek. Christa loves living in the country and raising cattle and when time permits enjoys anything outdoors including riding her horse, hiking, mountain biking and cross country skiing. |

Dr. Joana Varga
Dr. Joana grew up in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan where she spent the majority of her time working with animals. Through working with horses and on a dairy farm throughout high school and in the summers of university, Joana knew she wanted to become a veterinarian.
Joana’s spent her undergraduate years at the University of New Brunswick studying Science and Forestry before gaining acceptance into vet school. She graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in the spring of 2019.

Joana has a passion for International veterinary medicine and the One Health initiative. Joana is excited to be part of the Dawson Creek Veterinary team and looking forward to provide high quality care and medicine to her large and small animal patients. During her spare time, Joana can be found kayaking or hiking with her dogs Phineas & Murphy or cuddling with her two cats, Peanut and Sven.
Dr Joana is now a certified Veterinary Dental Practitioner (VDP)! (International Veterinary Dental Institute). This additional training has improved her dentistry surgical skills, extraction techniques, and expanded her knowledge of oral disease, patient anesthesia and pain management for cats and dogs.

Dr. Charlotte Corbett

Dr. Charlotte grew up on an acreage near the small town of Bruno, Saskatchewan where she spent her days looking after a variety of animals. Over the years she had dogs, cats, horses, llamas, pigs and a variety of poultry. During high school she worked for a commercial cattle producer and volunteered at the local veterinary clinic. Her experiences convinced her to pursue her childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian.
She began her undergraduate degree at the College of Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan where she was majoring in animal science. During this time, she worked at dairy barns and a pig barn to increase her knowledge of large animal production and medicine. |
Charlotte completed her veterinary medicine degree at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in the spring of 2019. At the WCVM she worked with a team researching stem cell therapy for wounds in horses. She also worked for a summer at an equine clinic in Sylvan Lake which specialized in reproduction.
The lure of cattle ranches and mountains brought Charlotte to Dawson Creek, where she works with both large and small patients. She’s looking forward to working with all species and giving the best possible care to her patients. In her spare time, Charlotte enjoys working on trucks, riding, hiking and fishing. She is looking forward to having a mountain within driving distance to go snowboarding.

Dr. Angela Grob

Dr. Angela grew up on a mixed animal farm south of Quesnel BC. She was involved with the day-to-day chores that came along with living on a dairy farm, cow-calf and swine operations. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Biology in Prince George and worked in research studying stream biodiversity before deciding that she needed a more hands-on and animal centered career. In 2016 Angela and her partner Randy, moved to Saskatoon where she gathered vet-specific experience by working in a swine barn, night shifts at a dairy farm, and working as a vet assistant in a mixed animal clinic.

Dr. Stephanie Parth

Dr. Steph grew up in a smaller city surrounding Edmonton, Alberta. She always knew she wanted to be a veterinarian and started volunteering at animal shelters and local vet clinics from high school onwards. She attended the University of Alberta and completed three years of a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture before attending vet school. She was accepted to the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2018.

Steph has a passion for providing comprehensive and empathetic veterinary medicine for all species and their human companions. In her spare time, you can find Steph rock climbing, hiking, playing music or spending time with her rescue dog, Astro.
Dr Meghan Johnston
Meghan grew up in Sparwood, BC on a small cow-calf ranch which is why she originally was wanting to become a veterinarian. Meghan went to undergrad at the University of Saskatchewan where she completed a Physiology and Pharmacology degree as well as an Animal science degree. In the summers of undergrad, she worked for a mixed sheep and cow-calf ranch in southern Saskatchewan. During vet school summers, Meghan worked at LaBrash Veterinary clinic in Meadow Lake, SK, for the Equine Field Service at the University, and for Dawson Creek Veterinary Clinic. The combination of cattle ranches and still having mountains nearby as well as the amazing clinic environment was what attracted Meghan to move to Dawson Creek.

Meghan is very excited to work with a variety of species and really enjoys doing equine repro, small animal emergency and small ruminant medicine. In her spare time, Meghan used to play competitive volleyball in Saskatoon, but also enjoys hiking, snowboarding, snowshoeing, paddleboarding, and doing agility with her dog, Paisley.
Dr. Lynn Thiessen

Dr. Lynn grew up overseas in Mongolia on a small beef feedlot and also had a small cow-calf herd of Mongolian cattle that she enjoyed working with as well as riding her Mongolian horse, Buddy. Dr. Lynn came back to North America and pursued a Bachelor’s in Pre-Medical studies in Colorado and later was accepted to the University of Calgary’s veterinary school. She loves being outdoors in the mountains, riding, hiking, and camping. Dr. Lynn is excited to begin her career in the Peace Country as a mixed animal veterinarian!
